The Bar of Ireland would like to congratulate and extend its best wishes to Susan Ahern BL, who has been appointed as an Arbitrator for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Susan will join the Court of Arbitration for Sports Anti-Doping Division which will oversee anti-doping-related matters arising during the Games as a first-instance authority. This structure, in operation for the third time since its inauguration at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will handle potential doping cases referred to it by the International Testing Agency (ITA) in accordance with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Anti-doping Rules.
Susan – who is Chair of the Sports Law Bar Association – has extensive knowledge with over 20 years’ experience in sports law practice, sports administration, and regulation leadership roles. Her expertise ranges from misconduct, foul play, anti-doping, integrity, eligibility, and commercial sports dispute resolution.
