Biography
I am a civil practitioner specialising in Chancery & Charity law. I have significant experience in enforcing security held by financial institutions as well as addressing issues pertaining to land, conveyances & bequests. I work closely with receivers, insurance houses and companies seeking to restructure their assets or develop commercial supply arrangements. In addition, I practice regularly in personal injuries law, primarily on behalf of insured defendants, as well as the expanding area of E-Commerce & Data Protection law.
I consulted with the Charities Regulator for several years, advising on general legal matters from regulation & policy to legal interpretation of the Charities Acts and compliance by stakeholders. I also prepared and set the agenda for the Charity Services Committee which deals with applications from registered charities on matters including Cy-Près applications, appointment of trustees, litigation and disposition of charity property. I now advise both the Regulator and charities in my capacity as a barrister.
I have represented clients’ interests from the District through to Supreme Court, running cases in courts of first instance, appellate courts & judicial review proceedings. I have experience in both Arbitration & Mediation in the context of interpretation of commercial agreements and contractual dispute resolution.
