The Courts Centenary Commemoration Committee in cooperation with The Bar of Ireland launched the exhibition “Bullets, Books & Barricades” on Thursday 10th March 2016 in the Round Hall, Four Courts.
Chief Justice Susan Denham formally opened proceedings with Chairman, Council of The Bar of Ireland David Barniville SC giving an overview of the many varied connections of the Bar with 1916.
Descendants and guests gathered to hear and read the story and legacy of the Four Courts garrison, compiled by staff of the Law Library, and were treated to a musical delight with contributions from the Courts Service Choir and the Piccolo Lasso Children’s Choir. Historian Paul O’Brien also provided a fascinating insight into the events of 1916 in the Fours Courts and surrounding areas.
This exhibition will be open to the public from 11th March until 20th May 2016 (excluding weekends and public holidays) between 10.00 and 16.00. It will then move to the Distillery Building for members to enjoy.
