Evolving judicial attitudes and notable developments in EU Human Rights Law – IACBA Conference 2023

The Immigration, Asylum and Citizenship Bar Association (IACBA) is pleased to announce its upcoming annual conference on Friday, November 24th, 2023. Leading legal experts, judges, and advocates will gather at the Distillery Building in Dublin 7, for a highly anticipated legal conference that will examine and discuss recent developments in asylum cases, changing judicial attitudes on the Irish citizenship regime, and notable European Court of Human Rights case-law. Rossa Fanning SC, Attorney General will lead such conversations as Chair of the conference.

The conference will be followed by a reception in the Sheds, Distillery Building.

The Immigration, Asylum and Citizenship Bar Association will hear from

• Anthony Collins, Advocate General – Mr. Collins will speak to recent asylum cases in the CJEU.
• Mr. Justice Maurice Collins – Judge Maurice Collins will discuss recent developments in and changing judicial attitudes on the Irish citizenship regime.
• Dr Clíodhna Murphy – Dr Murphy will discuss recent cases of the European Court of Human Rights, including MK (Albania) v Minister for Justice [2022] IESC 48, CI v Minister for Justice [2015] IECA 192 and ZA v Ireland (Judgement of 9 March 2023).
• Aoife McMahon BL – EU free-movement rights.
